Sheffield Wednesday attacker Josh Windass is attracting plenty of interest from some of his side's Championship rivals, according to the Sheffield Star.

The ambitious Hull City are one team thought to be interested in the player, with the Tigers potentially offering the player the opportunity to remain in Yorkshire and join his dad Dean's former club.

But a move to the Midlands could also be on the horizon.

Derby County, who have recently been promoted to the Championship, could be in a better position to secure the player's signature now they have secured a second-tier return.

Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion have been identified as the other two teams that are keen on the player - and the latter could offer him the chance to play in the Premier League next season if Carlos Corberan's side manage to succeed in the play-offs - something that's possible with Corberan squeezing the best out of the Baggies.

The Baggies would also be at a financial advantage in this race if they win the play-offs, with promotion giving them the license to spend more in the transfer market.

That would allow them to make a more attractive offer to the player, who has a lot to consider this summer as he weighs up whether to stay put at Hillsborough or whether to move elsewhere.

Latest on Josh Windass' Sheffield Wednesday situation

His team, thanks to manager Danny Rohl, managed to remain afloat in the second tier with their win on the final day helping them, and that could boost their chances of retaining the player beyond the end of his deal.

His contract at Hillsborough expires in the summer and with this in mind, the player has complete control over his future, but contract talks are thought to be ongoing.

However, according to the Sheffield Star, nothing has been agreed at this stage, even though the Owls will be desperate to keep someone of the 30-year-old's calibre.

Josh Windass could still benefit from staying at Sheffield Wednesday

No one will envy Windass, as he weighs up his future.

He has a very big decision to make this summer.

If he stays put at Hillsborough, that could allow him to remain in his comfort zone and he could continue to thrive under Rohl, who is a very talented coach.

He has created some excellent memories at Wednesday, with his play-off final goal at the end of the 2022/23 campaign probably the biggest highlight of them all.

However, Windass has been at Hillsborough for a considerable amount of time now, and it could benefit him to make a move away and secure a fresh start.

A switch to Hull could be particularly attractive for him, because he could play for the club that his father used to.

It will be fascinating to see what decision he makes on his future this summer.
