David Hancko’s transfer to Saudi Arabian giants Al-Nassr has collapsed at the last minute, according to ESPN NL.

The 27-year-old, who has been a key figure at Feyenoord since his arrival in 2022, was poised to join Al-Nassr in a deal worth over €35 million.

Negotiations for Hancko stretched over several weeks, during which Al-Nassr renewed their interest despite an initial breakdown due to changes in the club’s technical leadership.

The saga appeared to have ended after an agreement was reached, prompting Hancko to leave Feyenoord’s training camp in preparation for a move to the Middle East.

However, for reasons yet to be clarified, Hancko will no longer be joining Al-Nassr despite the Saudi Pro League outfit currently being close to parting ways with Aymeric Laporte.

Given Feyenoord’s defensive concerns due to injuries to Gernot Trauner and Thomas Beelen, Hancko’s failed move is not entirely unfavourable for them.

Hancko will rejoin his teammates at the club’s training base in Germany as they continue their preparations for the upcoming campaign.

Off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Gent on Saturday, they will be looking to bounce back in their clash with Nice on Sunday before wrapping up pre-season against Wolfsburg.

Feyenoord will then kick off their quest for a return to Champions League football. They have a two-legged tie against Fenerbahce to navigate in the third round of the qualifiers.
