Danilo Pereira starred for the Portugal national team in UEFA Nations League group stage play on Sunday. The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder earned a start as a center-back against Switzerland, and he went on to help clinch a 4-0 win for Portugal.
After the match (via O Jogo), Pereira took some time to chime in on his future at PSG. As he has three more seasons remaining on his contract with the reigning Ligue 1 champions, the veteran midfielder has no aspirations of leaving the club over the upcoming summer transfer window.
“I had a good season individually, I played a lot,” Pereira said. ” Collectively, we missed the Champions League. It’s a real shame. But I am satisfied with my record and I do not want to leave.
“I hope that next season we will do better. It will be easier with Kylian [Mbappe].”
Pereira was reliable as can be for PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino this past season, logging a combined 34 appearances in Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League play. Unlike with now-former PSG manager Thomas Tuchel, Pochettino was stern in only featuring Pereira as a midfielder for the club.
Pereira and his Portugal side are now set for a Nations League encounter with the Czech Republic on June 9.
