The race to sign Rennes winger Désiré Doué (19) is heating up with Paris Saint-Germain submitting a €60m bid to their Ligue 1 counterparts to fend off competition from Bayern Munich, according to a report this Wednesday from Foot Mercato. After seeing their first offer rejected, the Bundesliga giants have stepped up their efforts and submitted an improved €55m offer which includes bonuses.
The outlet understands that PSG’s second offer worth €60m will top Bayern’s bid and get closer to Rennes’ demands for their prized asset. Doué is the latest promising prospect to break through the ranks of the Rennes academy, following in the footsteps of Ousmane Dembélé, Eduardo Camavinga, Matthys Tel and Lesley Ugochukwu. The 19-year-old Angers-born winger is set to make its Olympic debut with Thierry Henry’s France tonight at Marseille against the United States.
The outlet adds that PSG intends to recruit the best young French players and the fact Lille centre-back Leny Yoro eluded them to sign for Manchester United has acted as a wake-up call.
