The biggest stories of the day but so much more digestible, so you know everything you need to.
Arsenal’s clash with Manchester City is the main event in the Premier League on Sunday, but before that we got some great games elsewhere, including Brighton’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool. Mohamed Salah scored twice for the visitors but it wasn’t enough for all three points, with Brighton’s Lewis Dunk equalising late on.
It was also an interesting day in the Women’s Super League, with Manchester City vs champions Chelsea being the pick of the fixtures. Chloe Kelly gave City the lead with a stunning goal, but the hosts then had two players sent off, before Chelsea equalised in the 96th minute.
The MLS regular season concluded this weekend and so did Wayne Rooney’s time in charge of DC United. The Manchester United and England legend leaves his post as head coach after the club failed to qualify for the play-offs. “I think it’s just the right time,” he told reporters following his side’s 2-0 victory over New York City FC on Saturday.
AC Milan’s 1-0 victory over Genoa on Saturday had quite the conclusion, with 37-year-old striker Olivier Giroud forced to play in goal for the final few minutes after goalkeeper Mike Maignan had been sent off. Planet Football break down an extraordinary finale at Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
One man who hasn’t been enjoying himself between the sticks lately is André Onana. Manchester United pulled off a dramatic late win against Brentford on Saturday thanks to two late Scott McTominay goals, but Onana was frustrated to let in a soft goal earlier in the game. Legendary United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel says he’s spoken to the Cameroon international, who is “very down” about his form so far this season.
