Jude Bellingham was the hero of El Clásico as he inspired Real Madrid to a thrilling second half comeback against Barcelona at Montjuic. A poor first half from the visitors saw them trail at the interval to an Ilkay Gündogan goal before the Englishman scored twice after the break, including an injury-time winner to seal a stunning comeback.

Barça starlet makes more history

Despite the Clásico not going Barcelona’s way, it wasn’t all negative. Lamine Yamal is unlikely to remember his first appearance in the famous fixture too fondly but it did see him make history as, at 16 years and 107 days, he became the youngest player ever to feature in the game, breaking a record that had previously stood for 82 years. The first of many outings.

Chelsea were beaten 2-0 at home by Brentford in the early kick-off as the Bees became the first team in Premier League history to win each of their first three games at Stamford Bridge, where they have incredibly won more games than the Blues since April! Arsenal then overcame Sheffield United with ease thanks to an Eddie Nketiah hat-trick, while Bournemouth picked up their first win of the season thanks to Philip Billing’s 45-yard winner.


Newcastle confirm Sandro Tonali ban

Despite Thursday’s news from Italy that Tonali had been banned from football for 10 months for breaking betting regulations which was ratified by FIFA, Newcastle had yet to comment on the decision, with Eddie Howe even claiming on Friday that the midfielder was still available for selection as far as he was concerned. However, the Magpies released a statement on Saturday accepting the ban and acknowledging he will be unavailable until August 27 next year.

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer finally made his long-awaited return from a leg break against Darmstadt in what was his first appearance for 351 days. The veteran kept a clean sheet in an 8-0 win for the German champions which was made much easier by two opposition red cards in the first half, although their own early red card for Joshua Kimmich means he’ll miss next week’s clash with Borussia Dortmund. But the story of the game was undoubtedly Harry Kane’s stunning strike from his own half.
