Crystal Palace are the latest English team to have taken an interest in Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, according to Tutto Juve.

The Foxes will be hoping to keep hold of their key players beyond the end of the summer window - but that may be a difficult task considering the financial situation they find themselves in.

With this situation in mind, they may be forced to cash in on key players before the end of June to give themselves the best opportunity of complying with financial rules in the future.

After being charged with a financial breach last month, they will be keen to avoid future sanctions if possible, although one is inevitably coming down the track following March's charge.

This could mean that players like Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who are extremely valuable both in terms of their on-field contributions and financial value, are sold to balance the books.

Ndidi is another strong contender to depart the King Power Stadium, having attracted plenty of interest from elsewhere.

His contract expires at the end of the season though, and although that means the Foxes won't be able to make money from his departure, it could allow the club to reduce their wage bill.

Leicester may need to make a big offer to convince the Nigerian to stay put - and that offer may not be forthcoming with this financial situation to deal with.

Interest growing in Wilfred Ndidi

Palace aren't the only team interested in the midfielder, with Serie A giants Juventus also thought to be keen.

In terms of interest from other non-UK based teams, Fenerbache, Getafe and Sevilla have been named in this Tutto Juve report as teams who have taken an interest in Ndidi.

Everton and West Ham United are teams that have been linked with several other EFL players in the past, so the fact they are named as other keen teams isn't a major surprise.

There looks set to be plenty of competition for the player's signature, perhaps making it more difficult for the Foxes to retain him beyond the end of his contract.

With his contract running down, Ndidi has plenty of power over his future.

But he should wait until the end of the season to make a significant decision on his future.

Right now, he needs to be focused on guiding the Foxes back to the Premier League, a top-tier return that isn't guaranteed considering three other teams are also firmly in the promotion mix.

Retaining his professionalism will be extremely important - because that will make him an attractive asset to another team.

Once he knows which division the Foxes will be in next season, he can start to weigh up his future and try to decide which club will be the best to spend his future at.

He needs to be prepared for a potential departure from the King Power Stadium though, because Leicester may not be able to offer him the wage that he wants.
