Foot Mercato report this afternoon that Crystal Palace are looking to move forward and wrap up the signing of Lens midfielder Cheick Doucouré, having made the Mali international one of their summer priorities.

Several offers have already been turned down by the Artois club, who have set a €20m asking price for Séko Fofana’s midfield partner, who is still under contract until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

There is no agreement in place between the two clubs for the time being, with other teams also in the running for his signature.

Lens also appear to have secured Doucouré’s replacement already, having completed the signing of the Ghanaian Salis Abdul Samed from Clermont, who is set to sign a four-year deal in the north of France in the coming hours.

Doucouré has been one of the silent stars of Franck Haise’s team in the last few seasons since their return to Ligue 1, and has been a consistent starter since his arrival from his native country back in 2018. Along with Fofana, he has been at the base of their entertaining and inventive style of play that nevertheless saw them miss out on Europe on the final day two campaigns running.
