Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to speculation surrounding his future after the former Manchester United talisman was linked with a return to the club. Ronaldo has one year remaining on his contract at Juventus and could be looking for a move this summer.

Ronaldo is set for a busy summer as his Portugal side begin defending their European crown, but build-up has already been blighted by rumours of a potential exit from Juventus ahead of the next campaign.

Ronaldo, 36, was the top scorer in Serie A last season and is showing no signs of slowing up, but sky-high wages could prove to be an obstacle, should Manchester United pursue a deal to bring the Portuguese back to the club.

“I have been playing at the highest level for many years this doesn’t faze me, maybe if I was 18 or 19 I might have had some sleepless nights, but I’m 36,” Ronaldo is quoted as saying by The Metro. “It’s like I say, whatever comes, it will be for good. Regardless of whether you stay or leave, that’s not the most important right now.”

Alexis Sanchez’ arrival in 2018 saw the club break their wage structure and the Old Trafford hierarchy are said to be wary to not repeat their mistake, having monitored their clubs highest earners and granted wages for new signings accordingly.

Edinson Cavani, who is out of contract next summer, will need to be replaced but a long-term option is more likely, with the club heavily interested in reuniting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Erling Haaland.
