The name of stopper Militão has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Madrid over the course of the last week.

This comes with the Brazilian having ramped up his efforts to return to competitive action, after a spell of seven months on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

Just last week, boss Carlo Ancelotti hinted at his readiness to utilise Militão in his side’s run of fixtures immediately following the international break.

With the 26-year-old having since gone on to see out the entirety of a match between ranks at Valdebebas on Wednesday, murmurs surrounding a potential starting berth for Militão over the course of the coming weeks have in turn only begun to mount.

As much, however, will not come in Real’s return to continental action, on April 9th.

That’s according to the aforementioned Marca, who have confirmed that:

‘At this moment his presence as a starter in the first leg of the quarterfinals against Manchester City is ruled out.’

This does not come owing to any sort of issue, or setback on Militão’s part. In fact, it is reiterated that, to date, ‘the news issued by the Brazilian is all positive’.

However, those behind the scenes at Valdebebas are eager for the former Porto man not to be rushed back, ready to take every precaution necessary to ensure that Militão goes on to enjoy a full recovery.
