For the first time since the inception of the Copa Libertadores in 1960, Boca Juniors and River Plate will face off in the final.
With passion obviously running high in Argentina, violent incidents were to be expected. However, we didn’t see an argument between friends turning into a house fire.
In the city of Apóstoles in the Misiones province some 1000 kilometres from the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires, a heated exchange between former brothers-in-law turned into an act of arson.
A man named ‘Arturo V.’ called the police after discovering his house had been set ablaze, naming former roommate and brother-in-law ‘Oscar B.’ as his prime suspect.
Since the discovery of the house fire, ‘Oscar B.’ has gone missing and has yet to be found.
Local government authorities have been extremely busy responding to incidents that have occurred as a result of the historic final.
CONMEBOL has requested that 4,000 away fans from each club be allowed to attend each leg.
However, both club presidents disagreed and denied a ticket allocation to any away fans.
