Columbus Crew have turned down a bid from Middlesbrough for rising USMNT wingback Max Arfsten, according to a report by Give Me Sport’s Tom Bogert.

Middlesbrough’s offer, believed to be around $3 million (£2.25m), was swiftly rejected by the MLS side. As Bogert reports: "The Crew’s stance is clear: they are not looking to sell Arfsten during the summer window."

The 24-year-old has been in strong form and made his mark again with a goal in Columbus' 1-0 win over Club León in the Leagues Cup this week, further underlining his value to head coach Wilfried Nancy’s squad.

The offer from the English Championship side comes after Toulouse also reportedly had a bid turned down earlier this summer, indicating growing European interest in the dynamic fullback.

While some fans believe Arfsten’s price tag is only rising, especially after recent performances, the Crew appear determined to keep the squad intact as they push for more silverware.

Arfsten's rising stock could bring further offers in the winter window or beyond, but for now, Columbus are standing firm.
