Rangers manager Philippe Clement has reassured Ibrox supporters that John Lundstram will sign a new Rangers deal despite reported interest from Turkish giants Trabzonspor.

Speaking before his side hosts Hibernian this weekend, the manager stated he fully expects Lunny to extend his deal at the club, and that both player and club want this to happen, so it’s just a matter of time.

He said:

“Yes I’m totally confident about that, that there’s a lot of love from both sides, so there will be a solution (in) one moment.”

Now, Clement wouldn’t say this unless he truly, truly believed this to be the case, and Rangers fans can absolutely trust his judgement because he said exactly the same thing about Ross McCausland before he too signed a new deal earlier in the season.

History tells us Clement knows what he’s talking about when it comes to this area, and that Rangers supporters can trust and believe him.

Simply put, Clement has put his own neck on the block, again, and last time he was completely vindicated – so that earns him a lot of trust, and we can say with a level of certainty that if the manager is that strong in his confidence over the deal being signed, we can trust him.

Of course, things do happen in football, and they can be very unpredictable to say the least – any wise man can look a fool despite everything pointing to another outcome than the one that ends up happening, but for the sake of simplicity it appears Lunny will indeed sign on at Rangers and Clement has made that as a very bold prediction.

This means that we guess the new contract announcement may actually be coming sooner than we think, with McCausland’s contract announced as early as late November.

With some luck, we might hear something official on Lundstram in the next few weeks.
