BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg are in the market for a head coach after parting ways with Patrick Vieira. The former Arsenal legend has been dismissed yesterday on the back of an underwhelming debut season at La Meinau. The Chelsea FC owners are reportedly considering appointing an English head coach for their French sister club. BlueCo have laid out the characteristics of the next Strasbourg head coach: a young English tactician in line with BlueCo’s global sporting policy and able to develop young players. L’Equipe understand that such criteria are met by Joe Edwards.
The 37-year-old Joe Edwards coached Chelsea youth teams and assisted Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel during their tenure at Stamford Bridge. Joe Edwards was appointed Millwall head coach in October 2023. He was sacked last February after logging only four wins in 19 games. The outlet understands that former Manchester City Elite Development Squad manager Brian Barry-Murphy is also of interest. BlueCo would like to appoint the next Strasbourg manager in the coming days.
