Mathis Amougou (19) has completed his move from AS Saint-Étienne to Chelsea. The Frenchman will remain with the Premier League side until the end of the season and is expected to depart on loan to partner club RC Strasbourg Alsace in the summer.

Amougou, who joined Saint-Étienne at the age of 18, has joined Chelsea on an eight-year deal. The Premier League side confirmed the completion of the deal following the closure of the transfer window on Tuesday. The permanent transfer is thought to be worth €15m.

The now-former ASSE midfielder will spend the rest of the season at Chelsea, getting to grips with his new environment and adapting to Chelsea’s play style before likely heading out on loan to partner club Strasbourg in the summer. He will be a replacement for Andrey Santos, who is expected to make the opposite move. The Brazilian will have spent 18 months with Les Alsaciens come the end of the season and he is expected to be integrated into the first-team set-up at Stamford Bridge ahead of next season.
