Barcelona have performed superbly since Xavi Hernandez announced he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.

While the resurgence has yet to convince Xavi to make a U-turn on his decision to leave, the Barcelona board is working on it and is even open to continuing with the Spaniard.

But as Barça continue to find a solution for their vacant coaching position next season, Xavi, for his part, is becoming a sought-after asset in the market.

Newcastle United, Chelsea interested in Xavi

According to Graeme Bailey, there are no shortage of suitors for Xavi in the market this summer, with at least two Premier League clubs keen on his services.

The clubs in question are Chelsea and Newcastle United. Both clubs are likely to hire a new manager in the coming summer after going through an underwhelming campaign so far.

Chelsea and Newcastle United are indeed languishing in mid-table, with no real hopes for a top-six finish in the Premier League this season.

This has put immense pressure on Mauricio Pochettino and Eddie Howe, both of whom may face the axe at the end of the campaign.

That is where Xavi comes into the fray. The Spaniard has earned a reputation for his tactical nous, coupled with his ability to nurture young talents.

Can Barcelona convince Xavi to stay?

Graeme Bailey does add that Barcelona are confident of convincing Xavi to stay put and backtrack on his decision to leave the club.

However, nothing is concrete yet and the Spaniard is currently focusing on the assignment at hand, refusing to talk about his future.

While Champions League success may see Xavi fancying a prolonged spell in Catalonia, the promise of better financial support and greater power offered by the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle United could tempt him to make the jump to the Premier League.
