Chelsea have three new players on the injury list, with Trevoh Chalobah, Carney Chukwuemeka and Robert Sanchez picking up new concerns ahead of a return to club action following the international break.

Chalobah has missed most of the season but returned to action against Manchester City last month. The 24-year-old has made four consecutive appearances for the Blues but has now suffered a setback.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino did not give much more information about the nature of his injury in his press conference ahead of this weekend’s Premier League clash with Burnley.

Chukwuemeka is also on the injury list. He recently returned to action but pulled out of England’s Under-21 squad to return to Cobham. The former Aston Villa midfielder has had a stop-start season but will hope the latest setback is only minor.

Sanchez has been dealing with an injury that allowed Djordje Petrovic to take his place in the first team. The Spaniard recently returned to action but is back on the treatment table.

Sanchez joins Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Christopher Nkunku, Lesley Ugochukwu and Romeo Lavia on the sidelines.

Ben Chilwell may not start this Saturday after two consecutive games for the England national team. Enzo Fernandez will return late from Argentina, making him another doubt for the match with the Clarets.

Chelsea are looking to appoint a new head for the medical department, although questions linger about the impact of constantly reshuffling the set-up.

This ongoing uncertainty coincides with a string of injuries to key players, raising concerns about the department’s efficacy.

The constant change in leadership under the new ownership group may be disrupting established protocols or hindering the implementation of effective treatment plans.

Pochettino may need to adapt his training methods and style to prevent these setbacks. Chelsea need tighter spaces between the lines to prevent players from constantly running to cover space.

With a crucial run-in ahead and a growing list of injured players, Chelsea must find solutions to keep their players fit, and Pochettino needs answers from his medical department.
