Chelsea spent last month sacking members of the medical department – so you can expect this month to see some arrivals.
Long serving medical director Dr Paco Biosca was sacked, as was head physio Thierry Laurent. Today we’ve had the surprising news from the Daily Mail that one of the men hired to replace them will be Freddie Murray, a former player and now physio, who is best known for helping musician Dave Grohl recover from a broken leg.
It sounds like this isn’t a permanent appointment – instead he is just working on a consultancy basis while the long term replacements for Biosca and Laurent are chosen. It’s still a vitally important role, and Murray and his “Remedy” clinic are already treating the players now.
Things aren’t too bad on the injury front for now – Wesley Fofana is the only player out, with N’Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy seemingly just short of match fitness.
