There have been rumours linking Chelsea with a move for Alexander Isak after he dropped a bombshell request to leave Newcastle United this summer.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano has shut down any suggestions that he is on Chelsea’s radar..

Chelsea are currently focused on completing a stunning double deal to sign Dutch duo Jorrel Hato and Xavi Simons from Ajax and RB Leipzig, respectively.

Blues fans would have undoubtedly been intrigued by the prospect of the club going after Isak, considering he is one of the best strikers in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old bagged 27 goals and six assists in 42 games across all competitions last season. He scored 23 times in the Premier League, with only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (29) scoring more.

Bringing him to Stamford Bridge would have automatically elevated Chelsea to Premier League title contenders. However, reports linking him to the Blues appear to be wide of the mark.

The Blues have no plans of pursuing a deal for Isak, who is being monitored more closely by Liverpool than any other Premier League club at the moment.

The Swedish international has three years left on his contract with the Magpies, who initially valued him at a whopping £150 million to ward off potential suitors.

Chelsea have already strengthened their attacking options this summer.

They believe they have enough firepower, having already spent a combined £90m to sign Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

Both players will provide competition for Nicolas Jackson, whose future at the Bridge is uncertain.

Marc Guiu is also an option, but Chelsea are planning to send him on loan, preferably to an English club.
