Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest in the talented striker.

The Magpies are aiming to beat the drop and have been very busy in this transfer window.

They have already signed Chris Wood from Burnley but are also targeting Ekitike as Callum Wilson has been ruled out for several weeks with a calf injury.

Chelsea have also entered the mix and are looking to sign the French footballer in the summer.

Our View

Ekitike is an academy product of Reims, who earned his senior debut in 2020, aged 18.

He was sent on loan to Vejle BK for the second half of the 2020-21 campaign but failed to impress there.

However, he has looked much improved this season.

He has made 18 Ligue 1 appearances this term, bagging eight goals and three assists (stats from Transfermarkt).

The France U21 international is a highly talented striker who could be a very good signing for both Newcastle and Chelsea.

However, Reims are demanding €40 million to let him leave, and it remains to be seen whether either club matches that valuation.
