The Addicks are forming their squad for their return to the Championship after a five-year absence, with the only new player to arrive so far being Blackpool playmaker Sonny Carey.

Links are continuing to emerge though in regards to new additions to Nathan Jones' player options, with versatile Leyton Orient midfielder Ethan Galbraith the subject of a rejected seven-figure Charlton bid - they have now been offered a Premier League stalwart as part of their potential recruitment drive.

According to journalist Rich Cawley, Charlton have been approached in an attempt to find veteran stopper Lukasz Fabianski a new club this summer.

The 57-cap Poland international is set to be a free agent at the end of June, with West Ham opting not to offer the ex-Arsenal man a new contract after seven years with the Hammers.

And with the 40-year-old revealing that he still wants to continue playing, but wants to carry on living in London, Charlton have been offered the chance to sign Fabianski for perhaps his final season in professional football.

As per Cawley though, it's a chance that as of now Charlton will not look to take up, despite the fact that Fabianski did indeed play 14 times in the Premier League for West Ham last season, keeping three clean sheets in that time.

Cawley has reported that Nathan Jones is planning on adding a younger goalkeeper to his ranks this summer instead of an experienced option, which would seemingly rule out a swoop for Fabianski's services this summer.

We've seen plenty of successful England-based goalkeepers come down into the EFL for loan stints earlier on in their careers, such as Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson and Sam Johnstone to name a few and and that may be the route that Jones looks to go down summer.

Jones' current options are Will Mannion and Ashley Maynard-Brewer, and it wouldn't be harsh to suggest that the pair need to be improved on if Charlton are going to make a go of it in the Championship next season.

Should a move for a younger goalkeeper not come off though, there's plenty of positives in regards to Fabianski - even though he isn't getting any younger.
