CHAN 2024 – Group A: Morocco outclasses Angola

Morocco showed no nerves in their CHAN 2024 opener. This Saturday in Nairobi, the Atlas Lions overpowered Angola 2-0 at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Right from kickoff, Tarik Sektioui's men set the pace. In the 29th minute, Imad Riahi broke the deadlock with a powerful strike, brilliantly set up by Mohamed Hrimat. Morocco kept pressing, but Angolan goalkeeper Neblú pulled off a string of impressive saves.

Angola, timid in the first half, tried to respond after the break. But to no avail. Rock-solid at the back, Morocco kept control. And late in the match, Youness El Kaabi forced an own goal from Kinito (81'), sealing the win.

Disciplined and focused, Morocco kicks off their campaign in style and sends a clear message. Angola, meanwhile, will need to bounce back quickly against DR Congo. Next Group A fixtures: Morocco vs Zambia and Angola vs DR Congo, on August 10.
