Morocco aims for a third CHAN title

Morocco will be aiming for a third title in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) after their triumphs in 2018 and 2020.
To discuss the strengths of the "Atlas Lions" in the upcoming edition, scheduled from August 2 to 30 in East Africa (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania), Foot Africa spoke with Moroccan journalist Ahmed Mechouary, who kindly shared his insights.
I believe the number one asset of the Moroccan squad is their vast experience in this tournament. The Atlas Lions have not lost a single match in the competition since facing Ivory Coast in the 2016 edition. Since then, they have played 13 matches without tasting defeat. Moreover, the squad selected by coach Tarik Sektioui is highly competitive, including several players who contributed to RS Berkane's remarkable run in the last CAF Confederation Cup.We should also not forget that Moroccan football has enjoyed remarkable momentum over the past decade, as evidenced by their fourth-place finish at the 2022 World Cup, the bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and their back-to-back gold medals in the 2018 and 2020 editions of the African Nations Championship.
