The former "Leopards" striker Yves Diba-Ilunga has paid a heartfelt tribute to the football leagues of Morocco and DR Congo in a statement given to Foot Africa.
It is often said that the numbers speak for themselves. From that perspective, I believe that the Moroccan and DR Congo leagues are the most competitive on the African continent, as these two nations are leading the pack in the ranking of the most decorated national teams in the competition.
As a reminder, the Congolese national team has won the African Nations Championship (CHAN) twice, specifically in the 2009 and 2016 editions, defeating Ghana (2-0) and Mali (3-0) respectively.
For its part, Morocco has also lifted Africa's second most prestigious trophy twice, claiming victory in the 2018 and 2020 editions against Nigeria (4-0) and Mali (2-0) respectively.
