If a report from German outlet Fussball Transfers is believed to be true, Celtic are among a host of clubs to keep close tabs on Kwadwo Opoku. Bundesliga survivors VfB Stuttgart have done a lot of groundwork for the Los Angeles FC youngster. However, the champions of Scotland are also in the hunt alongside their bitter rivals Rangers, as well as, French outfits OGC Nice and Girondins Bordeaux.

The 21-year-old Ghana youth international started his journey with Attram De Visser Soccer Academy back in his homeland. The MLS side scouted him extensively before roping him in October 2020. He went on to secure a starting status for the Falcons and his expertise across the frontline is now drawing the attention of European hotshots.

Los Angeles FC have the option to trigger a one-year contract extension beyond this calendar year, but a fee of around €4.8m should be enough to secure his services in the summer window. So far he has scored 13 goals and laid on 8 more in 73 appearances for his current suitors [stats via Transfermarket] and the promises showcased high up the pitch depict his ability to make the next career move towards greater glory and silverware.

Celtic conquered a domestic ‘treble’ under Ange Postecoglou’s tutelage, but the Aussie boss has now parted ways in order to accept the high-profile managerial role at Tottenham Hotspur. It is indeed a massive blow for the Hoops both in terms of finding his successor and snapping up transfer targets over the next couple of months.

Why Celtic Should Step Up The Chase

Postecoglou made an array of exciting additions during his tenure. The likes of Daizen Maeda, Sead Haksabanovic, Liel Abada and Filipe Jota have been exquisite on the flanks, also, Veteran James Forrest has played his part as a sporadic wideman.

Meanwhile, the uncertainties at Parkhead could see some key exits amid persistent rumours. Abada, in particular, could explore a fresh challenge prior to the upcoming term, and the Bhoys, therefore, must opt for a new name to slot in down the right.

Primarily left-footed, Opoku prefers to operate from the right as an inverted winger. His cutbacks, crosses and swift movements should help him create chances and find the net. Kyogo Furuhashi has been a revelation while spearheading the Celts’ attack. Also, the contribution of Oh Hyeon-gyu as his understudy makes them lethal in the opponents’ box. Their prolific poaching skills should make the job easy for the Ghanaian if a transfer takes place in the due course of time.
