Nashville SC have parted ways with manager Gary Smith this afternoon, despite his side’s 2-0 victory over Toronto FC Wednesday evening.
Nashville have started the new campaign slowly, winning just three of their opening 12 matches to find themselves sitting on the outside of the MLS Cup Playoff spots looking in.
Smith had been with the club since their inaugural season in the United Soccer League back in 2017, overseeing their transition to Major League Soccer just three years later.
The 55-year-old lead Nashville to the Eastern Conference semi-finals in each of the club’s first two seasons in the division, but failed to get them over the line.
Former Nashville player and current youth coach Rumba Munthali will take over on an interim while the club ‘conducts the search’ for the next head coach.
