Craig Cathcart has revealed how a half-time spray from Xisco Munoz helped Watford earn a point against Newcastle United on Saturday.

The Hornets recovered from Sean Longstaff's early opener to secure a 1-1 draw thanks to Ismaila Sarr.

"We created our own problems in the first half but we showed a good reaction, the manager got into us at half time and made our performance better in the second half," Cathcart told the club website.

"We sort of shot ourselves in the foot in the first half, we didn't really play too well. We gave them chances from our mistakes and showed good spirit in the second half to come out and perform much better."

He added: "We could've got down on ourselves after the first-half performance and going into half-time 1-0 down isn't easy, but the character we showed was great.

"We knew we had threat going forward and we knew we'd create chances, and we did that in the second half. We can be much happier and if you're not going to win the game, we better not lose it.

"It would have been nice to get the winner but we'll take a point and move on."
