Cassano: ‘Napoli and Inter Scudetto favourites, Thiago Motta not suited to Juve’

Antonio Cassano believes Antonio Conte’s arrival makes Napoli Scudetto ‘favourites’ with Inter, but he hopes Thiago Motta doesn’t join Juventus. ‘They are not interested in good football.’

The former Bari, Roma, Sampdoria, Real Madrid, Milan and Inter player is now something of a freelance pundit, especially on the Twitch channel he used to share with Christian Vieri and Daniele Adani.

Conte was appointed the new coach of Napoli yesterday and Cassano is positively celebrating the union at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

“I always said the only one who could turn Napoli around last season was Antonio Conte. With him on the bench, the Azzurri are now the favourites for the Scudetto along with Inter,” Cassano told Sport Mediaset.

Cassano doubts Thiago Motta right for Juventus

Most of the big clubs are undergoing a change of management during the summer and Juventus have long agreed terms with former Bologna boss Thiago Motta.

However, the Italo-Brazilian tactician has still not signed the contract with Juve and this is giving Cassano an idea.

“I still hope that Thiago Motta does not go to Juve, because it could be the same pointless show we saw with Maurizio Sarri. The Bianconeri are not interested in good football, they only want to win.

“I hope for Thiago’s sake, and I really appreciate him as a coach, that he can do well there, but I doubt he’s suited to them.”

Italy won the EURO 2020 trophy and go into the EURO 2024 tournament in Germany under a new coach too, as Luciano Spalletti took over from Roberto Mancini in September 2023.

“Spalletti is a guarantee. The team needs to improve, certainly, but when there is a world class coach on the bench anything could happen and I think Italy will have a great Euros,” concluded FantAntonio.
