Manchester United were left to sweat over the condition of their first summer signing, Matheus Cunha, who was forced to leave the pitch injured on Saturday.
The Brazilian has thus been omnipresent in Ruben Amorim’s starting lineup. The Portuguese manager has thus far fielded the 26-year-old in all four competitive fixtures this season, including the infamous Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby, where the team’s other regular starters were given a breather.
In the end, it appeared that the amount of early-season action caught up with the Brazilian who pulled his hamstring during Saturday’s contest against Burnley. The forward was in no condition to continue playing, so he was replaced by Joshua Zirkzee at the half-hour mark, prompting concern in and around Carrington.
While there has been great speculation over Cunha’s condition and the time frame of his return, Man United insider, Sully, provided the latest updates from Carrington.
As the journalist revealed in his post on Centre Devils, the player’s injury isn’t as bad as initially feared, even though the timetable remains unclear, as the exact type and extent of this injury remain unknown.
The source adds that Cunha did some light upper-body training on Monday after naturally pulling out of Brazil’s squad for the international break.

Man United have thus decided to keep the attacker at Carrington for the recovery process, which they hope will be a relatively short one.
Cunha was Man Utd’s first major signing of the season, and arguably the easiest to conduct. After all, the Red Devils were able to activate his release clause by paying Wolves £62.5 million without having to go through agonising negotiations, as was the case with other signings, especially Bryan Mbeumo.
The versatile striker has yet to produce a direct goal contribution after four appearances for MUFC, but has come extremely close on several occasions, and even hit the post. Cunha was also hailed for his electrifying display in the opening-day defeat to Arsenal.
