Alessandro Buongiorno's return to the pitch has been delayed again: the Napoli defender, a key figure in Antonio Conte’s plans, has been out of action since April 11.

The former Torino player is still dealing with tendinopathy in the adductor longus muscle of his right thigh, worsened by a form of pubalgia that has kept him sidelined since April 11.

👀 Debut against Sassuolo in doubt

At the moment, Buongiorno has not yet resumed training with the squad, and his availability for the first Serie A match against Sassuolo is far from guaranteed.

According to Il Mattino, Napoli want to avoid taking any risks, especially given Beukema’s addition to the defensive line.

The intention is to bring the player back without rushing things, but doubts about his condition remain. For this reason, just days before the official debut, the buzzword at Napoli is clear: caution.
