According to Bristol Live, the 21-year-old could be set to depart Ashton Gate ahead of the new season.

The Robins are concerned about the situation surrounding his contract status, with his current deal set to expire in 2025.

If he is not sold this summer, then the club will be at risk of losing him for nothing next year unless terms on a renewal can be agreed.

This has led to the decision to listen to offers this summer, with interest in the forward expected from both the Premier League and Scotland.

Tommy Conway transfer interest

It is understood that Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic are both interested in signing Conway this summer.

However, if he were to depart next year as a free agent for one of those two clubs then Bristol City will only be owed roughly £300,000 in compensation.

Wolves and Leicester City are also said to be interested in bringing the youngster to the Premier League this year.

If Conway waited and left for the top flight in 2025, then an independent tribunal would have to determine the compensation fee owed to the Championship team.

However, if a sale happens this summer then Bristol City are likely to receive a greater sum for the player.

This is being taken into consideration by the second division side as they weigh up their options regarding the 21-year-old.

Owner Steve Lansdown has reportedly been very involved in the process behind this decision, with the businessman hoping for a swift resolution, rather than letting the situation drag on through the summer.

Liam Manning and Conway have held talks regarding the player’s future, but it remains uncertain what the next step will be.

Conway is set to compete with Scotland at Euro 2024 in Germany, which gets underway on 14 June.

Tommy Conway’s importance to Bristol City

Conway came through the academy system at Bristol City, cementing his place in the first team squad at just 18.

The forward didn’t become an important part of the team until the 2022-23 campaign, in which he made 34 league appearances, contributing nine goals and three assists (all assists from Fbref).

The youngster scored 10 in the Championship last season as the team finished 11th in the table, missing out on a play-off place by 11 points.

He started 27 games, making a further 12 appearances from the bench, as the team missed out on a chance to fight for promotion to the Premier League.

Conway’s sale would be a blow to Manning’s team

Losing Conway would be a blow to Manning as he has proven himself as a bright, young talent in the last couple of seasons.

As an academy product, it will also be disappointing for supporters to lose one of their own.

However, his contract situation has kind of forced their hand into such a decision, as losing him for next to nothing in a year would be even worse.

If they can get a good fee for him now then they can at least reinvest that money back into adding players to the squad.
