Highlights Conway's impressive season has attracted interest from Wolves, Celtic, and Rangers, leaving Bristol City likely to sell him this summer. Alan Hutton believes Conway would offer Rangers something different, bringing value to the team at the right price. Bristol City faces the unfortunate reality of having to let go of Conway for a good fee this summer, rather than losing him for free next year.

An impressive 2023/24 season at Championship level for Tommy Conway at Bristol City has seen the young Scotland international attract transfer interest.

According to The Bristol Post, Wolves, along with Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers are interested in signing the 21-year-old this summer, and it looks as if the Robins will receive plenty of further interest in their academy product in the coming months.

The Taunton-born forward has just 12 months remaining on his contract at Ashton Gate, and it's reported that Bristol City will have to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free next summer, with Conway unlikely to put pen to paper on a new deal.

With that in mind, the Robins will be looking to maximise any potential profit, and it could come down to the highest bidder. Losing Conway this summer is not ideal, but it's the lesser of two evils for the club, with the player likely to leave for free next year if he's not sold now.

Former Rangers and Scotland defender Alan Hutton believes that Conway would be a good signing for his former side, and believes that the young Scotsman would offer something different to the other attackers at Ibrox.

Speaking to Football League World via Best Online Poker Sites, Hutton said: "For the right price (he would be a good signing) but I think it will be a decent price if I’m honest.

“I really like what I’ve seen from him so far. To be honest, before he was in the Scotland squad I didn’t know too much about him. I know he scored 12 goals for Bristol City but what he does is bring something different to Rangers.

“You look at Dessers and Danilo they want to come forward, want to link up and have their back to goal, whereas Conway interests me because he wants to go in behind. “He works ever so hard, he’s calm with the ball at his feet in front of goal, so I think he ticks a lot of boxes for Rangers, and he offers something different.

“I’d love to see him there, they need someone like that, so it would be interesting to see what the fee is and whether they can get it over the line or not.”

Losing Tommy Conway will be a big blow for Bristol City

Losing a player of Conway's quality would be a blow to any side, but it looks as if Bristol City will have to cash in this summer, much to the annoyance of everybody at the club.

In an ideal world, the Robins' hierarchy would be hoping that Conway will sign a new long-term deal at Ashton Gate to give them some security, but it looks as if that ship has sailed, and they'll be forced to sell him.

Having joined the club's academy back in 2009, Conway is certainly one of their own and losing him will hurt, but they can't run the risk of losing him for free next summer - that would be disastrous.

On the plus side, the club should receive a decent fee for the attacker this summer, meaning it could be reinvested to improve the rest of their squad, and it will give boss Liam Manning an increased transfer budget.

The 21-year-old was an unused substitute in Scotland's 5-1 defeat to Germany, but everybody at the Robins will be hoping that Conway plays a role for Scotland later on in the tournament, as good performances on the European Championship stage will only put him further in the shop window and increase his value.

Losing the Taunton-born forward this summer is far from ideal, but it's a better outcome than losing him for nothing next year.
