Brighton have won the race for highly-regarded Argentine prospect Valentín Barco.

The 19-year-old was monitored by Manchester City as well as giants in both LaLiga and Serie A but it is the Seagulls who have secured the Boca Juniors midfielder’s signature.

He has put pen to paper on a deal until the summer of 2028 and was widely regarded as one of the top prospects in South American football.

Barco has already made 35 first team appearances for Boca and helped them to the Copa Libertadores final.

An Argentina U23 international, he is capable of playing anywhere on the left hand side of the field.
