Brighton & Hove Albion have identified Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus as a potential summer signing, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Seagulls are showing serious interest in the 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who recently revealed that he was open to a move away from the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Last season Kudus scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 42 appearances. The Ghanaian international was one of Ajax’s stand out stars last season as the Dutch giants finished third in the Eredivisie. It won’t be easy for Brighton to sign the player as he’s currently valued at approximately £40m.
Mohammed Kudus is under contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena until 2025 but he rejected a new deal in April. Ajax tend to sell their most valuable squad members when they reach the final 24 months of their deals. This prevents players from leaving the club for free. Manchester United and Arsenal have also shown interest in Kudus, but Brighton could be the perfect club for the former Nordsjaelland talent. The side that finished in sixth place last season are in need of an attacking midfielder following the departure of Alexis Mac Alister, who joined Liverpool earlier this month.
