Brighton have won just two of their last 15 meetings with Leicester, but both of these victories have come in Sussex, with the Seagulls seeking a third successive home win over the Foxes for the very first time.
The last seven meetings between these two clubs have produced 27 goals, with both teams scoring in each of them.
Can Brighton & Hove Albion get their European push back on track? Just a month ago, Fabian Hürzeler's team had collected 13 points from five Premier League games, thereby sat in a Europa League spot. However, since then, the Seagulls have been dumped out the FA Cup, also suffering back-to-back league defeats. Having been swatted aside 3-0 by Aston Villa at the Amex, the Albion were then also defeated 2-1 by fierce rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst last Saturday.
Danny Welbeck did equalise in South London, ultimately in vain, on an afternoon that saw three red cards produced, including Jan Paul van Hecke being dismissed for the visitors late on. As a result, with seven games remaining, Brighton sit ninth, thereby just outside the European positions, albiet a mere one point below Fulham, the current occupants of that all-important eighth spot. Thus, the Seagulls will view this home game as simply must win.
Leicester City supporters meantime simply cannot wait for this season to be over. The Foxes once again lost and failed to score on Monday night, swatted aside 3-0 by Newcastle at the King Power, all the goals coming during a bleak first half. So, since a remarkable comeback to salvage a draw against Brighton in early-December, Ruud van Nistelrooy's team have lost 15 of 16 fixtures, but that's not all.
Leicester have failed to score during any of their last eight matches, all defeats, meaning it's approaching almost 13 hours of playing time since they last found the net, scoring nil in 13 of their 15 loses. Now 15 points from safety, the Foxes will return return to the EFL Championship with a whimper, and most expect Brighton will become the latest team to swat them aside come Saturday.
Jan Paul van Hecke's late red card at Selhurst means he is suspended, leaving Fabian Hürzeler very short of defensive options, considering Igor, Ferdi Kadıoğlu, Adam Webster, Joël Veltman and Tariq Lamptey are all injured. Thus, Jack Hinshelwood will therefore continue to deputise at right-back, while someone will need to fill-in in the middle, with Mats Wieffer the most-likely candidate.
Elsewhere, Georginio Rutter and James Milner are also sidelined, the former is a big blow. Matt O'Riley got the nod as the number ten at Palace, but João Pedro is expected to return to the lineup this time.
Brighton & Hove Albion predicted lineup vs Leicester City: (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Hinshelwood, Dunk, Wieffer, Estupiñán; Baleba, Ayari, Minteh, Mitoma; João Pedro, Welbeck.
Danny Welbeck took his tally to nine for the season in South London, while he has previously netted four times against Leicester, including home and away against the Foxes in 2021/22.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has named an unchanged lineup for each of the last four matches, a bizarre decision considering Leicester have lost all four without scoring. Wide-attackers Facundo Buonanotte and Stephy Mavididi, both of whom came off the bench on Monday, will be hoping to start this time, but probably won't.
The other substitute used was Jeremy Monga, becoming the second-youngest player in Premier League history, at the age of only 15 years and 271 days.
Leicester City predicted lineup vs Brighton & Hove Albion: (5-2-2-1): Hermansen; Justin, Coady, Faes, Thomas, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Soumaré, El Khannouss, Daka; Vardy.
Mads Hermansen has made 89 saves in the Premier League this season, only four goalkeepers have accumulated more, set for another busy afternoon.
We cannot see beyond a very comfortable Brighton victory on Saturday, with Leicester once again losing and not scoring, because that's just what they do: Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 Leicester City.
