Blackburn Rovers’ sensational run of eight wins and two draws in ten matches came to an end on Wednesday evening as they were beaten 2-0 by newly promoted Hull City.
Rovers are still only outside of the automatic promotion places on goal difference but have now played one more game than Bournemouth.
Goals from George Honeyman and Tom Eaves did the damage for the Tigers, Ryan Longman provided both assists, as the club capped a memorable day with the confirmation of the club’s takeover announced.
“We have been on a fantastic run since our last defeat, we dust ourselves off and go again, still all to play for…
“Thank you to our travelling fans fantastic once again.”
Bradley Johnson has been there and done it on a consistent basis in the Championship, and though he has only started two league games this season, his voice in the dressing room could be crucial in the coming months.
It is a youthful Rovers side that has been able to put them in such a commanding position in the table but there is a chance that Mowbray leans on the more senior players to build on the platform they have built.

It was written in the stars that Hull City were going to pick up a win on Wednesday evening after such welcome news regarding the club’s hierarchy.
On reflection, Rovers should be very proud of the run they put together, winning eight games in a ten match stretch will not happen often in the EFL and to do it after their humbling 7-0 loss to Fulham was even more impressive.
Rovers have been able to build an eight point cushion inside the play-offs in the last couple of months.
A position they would not have dreamt of being in at the beginning of the season.
Their reliance on Ben Brereton Diaz has decreased in that time and with Mowbray’s experience in the dugout they should be able to at least book a spot in the play-offs.
