Leicester City aiming to end the season with maximum points says interim boss Foster | OneFootball

Leicester City’s interim head coach Jennifer Foster says that the club are targeting maximum points from their remaining three games.

The Foxes play host to Manchester United at The King Power Stadium this weekend before travelling to West Ham United. Leicester City will then finish the season with a home game against Liverpool.

When speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Manchester United, Foster said that her side are targeting maximum points with a seventh-place finish in their sights.

“We want maximum points,” Foster said. “There’s three points between us and seventh place. Although we had that top six aim, seventh is still well within our grasp. That’s the aim now and the only way that we can do that is to take maximum points from those last three games. That gives us the best possible chance.

“The players are hungry. There’s been that frustration over the last few weeks because it’s not like the performances haven’t been there, the performances have, it’s just the small details that have let us down. That’s where the frustration has come in but it just makes them even more hungry to finish the season strong.”

Leicester City held latest opponents Manchester United to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture back in October. Foster says that defending well will again be an important factor this weekend.

She said “Last time, we created good chances and limited them to few chances. There was a period in the second half where they were on top but when I look at that, how we defended was the reason why it was 1-1.

“We need to make sure we take elements from that game and put it into this game in terms of making sure that we don’t allow them lots of chances and clear chances. Teams will get chances but like Arsenal in the first half [last weekend], other than the goal, they had 0.3 xG which is virtually nothing. It shows how well we can defend, it’s just about doing that for 90 minutes.”
