Birmingham in talks to sign Rennes’ Kyogo Furuhashi | OneFootball

Kyogo Furuhashi (30) doesn’t have a future at Stade Rennais, despite only arriving in January. As per L’Équipe, the Japanese forward is the subject of talks with Birmingham City.

Furuhashi was a target for Jorge Sampaoli, but the Argentine head coach was eventually dismissed a couple of days after the centre-forward joined on a two-and-a-half-year contract. His successor in the Roazhon Park dugout, Habib Beye, barely fielded Furuhashi. The Japanese international has not scored for Les Rouge et Noir, and just five months after making the move to the Breton club, he is one of several players that they are looking to offload during the current transfer window.

The former Celtic forward could return to the United Kingdom, according to L’Équipe. The publication understands that the forward is the subject of talks with Birmingham City, recently promoted back to the EFL Championship. He is also the subject of interest from German clubs.
