The sale of Chelsea is going through various stages, and once we had been brought down to 4 “preferred bidders” we thought we would be close to a resolution.

Instead, there’s been constant extensions of the deadlines, and in fact the preferred bidders have been able to add to their bids to try and persuade Raine Group they’re the right option.

The Todd Boehly bid has been one of the front runners since the sale was announced, and they had today added billionaire Mark Walter to their group.

He already works with Boehly running the LA Dodgers, and clearly his vat wealth just adds more weight to the consortium’s already considerable financial power as they try to fight off a tenacious Ricketts family effort.

The new deadline for adding to your bids the the 14th of this month. We had heard before that the intention was to complete the sale by May, but that looks increasingly unlikely now.
