Benfica head to the Vélodrome on Thursday with a one-goal lead to protect after beating Olympique de Marseille 2-1 in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final.

Goals from Rafa Silva and former Paris Saint-Germain forward Angel Di Maria have given Roger Schmidt’s side the upper hand as they head to France. Unsurprisingly, therefore, it is expected that the German manager will field an unchanged side to the one that triumphed at the Estadio da Luz one week ago.

Juan Bernat, currently on loan at the Portuguese club from Marseille’s Ligue 1 rivals, PSG, is one of the only absentees. The Spanish international has been suffering from inflammation of the pubic bone and has not featured for the club since October 2023.
