One of the primary priorities at FC Barcelona moving forward is the arrival of a new pivot. The last great player to hold that role at Barça was Sergio Busquets, but his departure left a massive hole. Since then, Barcelona have continued to struggle when it comes to finding an appropriate replacement.

They have tried many different ideas and options, but none have given perfect results. However, from among the names that Barcelona continues to target in the hopes of finding an elite pivot, one name from the German Bundesliga manages to stand out rather prominently.

Joshua Kimmich, aged 29, is a great ideal for Xavi’s idea of a perfect Barcelona team. The Bayern Munich midfielder currently remains with the Bavarian giants as he has a contract until 2025, but both the intentions of Barça and the player seem to intercept in the hopes of making him a Blaugrana player.

Moreover, despite typically being tough negotiators, SPORT reveals that Bayern are now finally willing to let Kimmich go to Barcelona. However, this news comes with the revelation that the Bavarian giants do have their own condition as well for this specific operation.

Bayern reportedly hope to convince Barcelona to include Kimmich in a player-plus-cash deal. Their primary targets are Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong and Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo, and the Bavarians would be willing to give Barcelona their wish of signing Kimmich alongside additional financial compensation for either of the two stars reportedly tingling their interest.

Kimmich himself, reportedly, has no issues with joining Barcelona. In fact, reports from last summer claim that he had already given his approval of a move to Spain and to play for La Blaugrana, but due to the inability of the Catalan giants to match Bayern’s financial demands, a final deal could not materialize.

However, things may take a different turn in the upcoming summer market. For one, Barcelona are expected to have a bit more spending power than last time.

Moreover, the Catalan giants will be able to negotiate for the German star knowing that he has only one year left on his contract and his value will rapidly continue to fall. With these factors in mind, Bayern may finally have to give in to Barça’s relentlessness as well.
