Alarm bells were set ringing across the Barcelona fanbase this morning, upon word surfacing that the definitive decision had been made behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital to part with Roque in the summer.

Cadena SER were the authors, adamant that Deco and co. had reached an agreement with Xavi and his coaching staff to seek out a year-long loan for the Brazilian.

Mere hours on, however, such claims have been firmly denied.

As per Mundo Deportivo, citing direct sources in the Barcelona camp, a decision regarding Roque’s future beyond the close of the campaign has not yet been reached.

It is not ruled out that a move could be on the cards for the young attacker over the months ahead, but, as of yet, no final call has been made.

This decision could also be heavily influenced by the monetary situation at the Camp Nou, with Barcelona yet to establish whether or not Roque’s contract can be registered with La Liga for next season.

The Brazilian international’s January arrival was facilitated by space opening up on the wage bill in the face of the long-term injury absence of Gavi.

He would need to be re-registered for 2024/25, though, adding further fuel to the fire regarding a potential loan exit.
