Last month, a report revealed that the Madrid government will implement a “Mbappé Law,” which will reduce certain income taxes for wealthy foreigners. As a result, this law will benefit Kylian Mbappé upon his arrival at Real Madrid.

Nonetheless, not everyone is happy with the local government in Madrid helping Los Blancos have an edge. FC Barcelona have gone through financial issues, and with the arrival of the Frenchman, La Liga could soon turn into a one-team league.

SPORT reports that Barcelona are not happy with the “Mbappé Law” as they fear growing inequality and question the influence of Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez in this initiative.

Mbappé will probably be the first to benefit from this law’s implementation. Real Madrid have been reportedly keen on other big-name players in the coming years, such as Alphonso Davies and Florian Wirtz.

If the Spanish giants add these players knowing their financial edge via the local government, they can start to pull away from Barcelona, who need to sell players to fund these splashy signings and also go into the free agent market to reportedly sign players like Guido Rodríguez.

It will be interesting to see whether Real Madrid becomes the sole juggernaut in La Liga over the next few years.
