While the Fermin Lopez to Chelsea links remain a key overhang for Barcelona in the market, the club are mostly done with their squadbuilding for the new season.

In recent weeks, the Catalans have been able to close the departure of Inaki Pena, Oriol Romeu, while registering Wojciech Szczesny and Gerard Romero.

Having closed these files, Barcelona now have only two things to do before the transfer window closes, notwithstanding an unexpected development in the Fermin saga.

Barcelona’s two objectives before the window closure

As reported by Diario SPORT, Barcelona now have only two remaining tasks to finalise their squad list for the 2025/26 season.

The first is the departure of Hector Fort, who is on the verge of leaving the club after being pushed down the pecking order under Flick.

Mallorca have emerged as the strongest candidate to sign him, with Fort lined up as a replacement for Pablo Maffeo. While the final details still need to be ironed out, Barça expect the deal to go through before the September 1 deadline.

The second task is the official registration of Roony Bardghji, whose debut has been delayed due to administrative issues.

The Swedish winger impressed in pre-season and was eager to feature against Rayo Vallecano. However, he will have to wait until after the international break to make his official Barcelona debut.

The club remains confident Bardghji will be registered before the deadline, ensuring he is available after the international break.

The youngster’s addition will be key, especially as Barcelona face a hectic run of seven games in just three weeks, including two high-profile Champions League clashes against Newcastle and PSG.
