Barcelona working to renew the contracts of three players – Report | OneFootball

There is always something happening at FC Barcelona, and the club is working non-stop to sort operations out. Already, this ongoing summer transfer window has proven to be demanding. After all, it took Barcelona quite some time to just sign a left-winger.

However, at least the club can check off that box for now thanks to the arrival of Marcus Rashford. The English forward, who joins from Manchester United on a loan deal, is now set to become an official signing soon and he is exactly what Hansi Flick had wanted this summer.

Yet, there is more to preparation in football than just new arrivals. In fact, Barcelona remain equally as attentive to the contract situations of their current squad and are quick to act when they believe any kind of renewal or negotiation is needed.

According to SPORT, moreover, Barcelona is already actively working on the contract renewals of three players at the club. With two of those players having contracts that are set to expire in 2026, it makes sense as to why Barça wants to move quickly.

The first player is undoubtedly Frenkie de Jong, as the Dutchman’s current contract is set to expire in 2026. Moreover, considering the quality that he put on display last season, it is simply impossible for Barcelona to consider losing the player in any way.

Even according to the last update provided by Fabrizio Romano on the matter, it was confirmed that Barça are working towards renewing De Jong’s contract. Unfortunately, certain agent-related issues are delaying the renewal but it seems like a matter of time before it is wrapped up.

Meeting with the agent of Jules Kounde

Another player who could see his contract expire in 2026 is Eric Garcia. However, despite some exit links over the last few months, it seems clear enough that Hansi Flick trusts him and wants him to continue with the team. In fact, the report claims that the coach himself has requested his renewal.

Last but not least, Jules Kounde is also set to have his contract renewed at Barcelona. With his current deal running until 2027, Barça wants to renew his contract and the player is also eager to stay himself. Interestingly, reports also stated that the club held an informal meeting with the player’s agent recently.
