In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Barcelona are planning to move in for Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez next summer. It has been stated that the Catalan club are eager to get a deal done for the Argentine attacker in 2026.
Alvarez enjoyed a good run of form at the Spanish club recently after he put in a string of impressive displays for them in front of the opponent’s goal. The Argentine striker banged in 29 goals and earned eight assists in 57 matches for Atletico Madrid last season across all competitions.
The 25-year-old led the line well in the opponent’s half as he averaged 2.51 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He kept 51.4% of his attempts on target. Alvarez even distributed possession relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 74.2% in the Spanish top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Nou Camp will expire in the summer of 2030 which could make it tough for Barcelona to sign him on the cheap at the end of next season.

Alvarez is proficient at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third.
The Argentine talent is primarily a centre-forward but can also play as a winger on either flank if needed. He is a consistent goal-scorer in La Liga and has what it takes to make an immediate impact at the Nou Camp if Barca manage to snap him up next year.
We can expect Alvarez to add more firepower to Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s attack. He is more than capable of serving as a decent successor to Robert Lewandowski at the Catalan club.
At 25, Alvarez has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a good choice for Barcelona to consider next summer. He might even help the Catalan giants compete for a lot of major trophies in the future. All in all, Flick would be wise to try everything in his power to secure the services of the Argentina international.
