Every now and then, La Masia produces a wonderkid who is thrown into the first-team mix at FC Barcelona and is expected to be the next big thing. However, for every Lionel Messi, there has always been a Bojan Krkic.
When Ansu Fati broke into the first-team at Barcelona at the age of just 16, he was expected to have a career that resembles the former but it is safe to say that it looks like his time in the Red and Blue of Blaugrana would resemble the latter.
Now, as he stands on the verge of leaving the club that he has called home for more than a decade now, Fati doesn’t know what lies ahead for him in the future. AS Monaco are set to take a punt on him but this move could be make or break for the 22-year-old.

Now, as per Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are waiting for an official proposal from AS Monaco in writing to formalise an exit for Ansu Fati. All the details are already agreed between the two teams verbally and only the formalities remain.
Ansu will be joining Monaco from Barcelona on an initial loan deal, but the French club will have the option to sign him at the end of the season. Meanwhile, the Catalan club will also hold on to a sell-on clause that could help them profit later.
When the Spaniard broke in at 16, he looked like an elite talent and that potential is still very much there. What Fati needs is an environment that would back him, allow him the chance to fail but give him regular game time to rediscover his best level.

Once touted to be the heir to Lionel Messi’s throne at Barcelona and even handed the number 10 jersey, Ansu now needs to start from scratch at AS Monaco. However, one thing he has on his side is just how young he is, even now.
If the Spaniard turns over a new leaf at this stage of his career, he still has what it takes to go on to have the kind of career once envisioned for him. However, it is important that he takes it one season at a time and look to build his confidence.
As Barcelona prepare to make the move official, fans will part with hope, not just for closure, but for a revival of the immense talent they once saw lighting up the Camp Nou.
