The 24-year-old shot-stopper has attained cult hero status at the RCDE Stadium after almost single-handedly saving them from relegation.

His performances and potential have not gone unnoticed with Barcelona making him a top target to strengthen their goalkeeping department.

Other clubs like Arsenal and Newcastle United have also shown an interest in the Espanyol star.

Manchester United plan hijack

Now, according to an exclusive report from Caught Offside, Manchester United have also thrown their hat in the ring for the signing of Joan Garcia.

Indeed, the Red Devils are seemingly looking to move on from Andre Onana, who has proven to be quite error-prone and are on the lookout for a top goalkeeper, with Garcia seen as someone who fits the bill.

As such, the Barcelona target is viewed as a serious target at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils hoping to hold talks over a potential move for him in the next few days.

The report, however, states that Barça are leading the race for Garcia’s signing even though the player has yet to give a green light to the move.

Meanwhile, as mentioned above, Arsenal and Newcastle United are also admirers of the Spaniard whereas Manchester City could also be a potential suitor.

A lot will thus depend on Garcia’s personal preference as none of the teams interested will have any problem activating his €25 million release clause.

Espanyol manager Manolo Gonzalez is of the belief that the goalkeeper will not make the switch to their direct rivals. However, the player himself has not ruled out the possibility.

So, only time will tell how this story evolves as big clubs across Europe vie to sign the Espanyol sensation.
