It has now been known for a while that FC Barcelona intend to sign a new left-winger in the summer transfer window.
Even though the Catalans boast of an attacking unit that destroyed oppositions in the current season, there is a sense of over-reliance on the first-choice wingers Raphinha and Lamine Yamal, which Hansi Flick and Deco wish to address.
To that end, Luis Diaz of Liverpool, someone who has been on Barcelona’s radars for a long time, has been identified as the top target for the position.
However, according to the latest update from journalist Ben Jacobs, Saudi Arabian heavyweights Al-Nassr have joined Barcelona in the race to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool.
With the threat of Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure looming this summer, Al-Nassr are planning on a headline signing and have seemingly set their sights on the Colombian international.

In fact, the update from Ben Jacobs claims that Al-Nassr have already requested central funding to launch a bid for the Liverpool winger this summer.
Diaz, who has a contract at Anfield until the summer of 2027, is expected to cost at least €85 million, which is unlikely to be an issue for the Middle-Eastern club.
Barcelona have been monitoring Diaz from even before he moved to Liverpool and have been regularly linked with a move for him in recent transfer windows.
Deco and Flick view the Colombian international as the priority target for the left flank, ahead of alternatives like Marcus Rashford.
However, the cost of the transfer and his salary were always likely to pose a challenge given the club’s Fair Play situation. Now, with Al-Nassr also getting involved, a deal for the Premier League winner could become even more difficult.
