FC Barcelona got back on the winning track with their victory over Valencia in their last La Liga match, which came in the backdrop of the painful defeats against Paris Saint Germain and Real Madrid.

Robert Lewandowski was the clear star of this match, as he pulled his team back from the brink of yet another defeat as Valencia had gone ahead at the end of the first half. The Pole scored a second-half hattrick to give his side a 4-2 victory, as the visitors also saw their goalkeeper getting sent off at the very last minute of the first half.

However, the striker had made headlines even before the match started, as he spoke to the German newspaper BILD. As SPORT has reported, Lewandowski provided an update on his future plans in this interview:

“Leaving Barça definitively this summer is not possible for me, it’s not up for discussion. I feel good physically and from today onwards, it will be like this for at least two more years. When I am no longer physically at a superior level, then I will think about it.”

While giving an expected time frame of his stay in Barcelona, the striker was not giving any indications about his possible future destination:

“I haven’t thought about it yet. I haven’t had time to think about going to Saudi Arabia or the United States. At this moment, I tell myself that I can definitely play at this high level until 2026.”

Thus, with Lewandowski’s comments, there is some clarity on who the starting striker will be for Barcelona next season. The Pole’s stay is only going to help the club going forward as it is clear that Vitor Roque is not yet ready to lead the team’s attack, and Lewandowski himself still remains one of the best strikers in Europe.
